Bring the Word to LIFE - 2 Corinthians 4
Updated: Nov 3, 2020
The eternal weight of glory.
Oh how I long for the day when eternity is here. Sometimes, these momentary afflictions seem too much to bear. Paul the apostle encourages us to not lose heart. We need to keep moving forward.
The outer self may suffer affliction. But the inner self is about to be glorified. The wasting away is momentary, but the renewing of our minds is eternal. We are being prepared for something far greater than what we see right now. Our afflictions, our trials, our struggles here on this earth are light compared to the glory awaiting us. It is beyond all comparison.
I know our struggles don’t seem light right now. For many, this struggle is overwhelming. Even more so since we don’t see an ending. But don’t lose heart! God was with Paul while he was imprisoned for sharing about Jesus. God was with the Israelites when they faced famine and wars. God promises that He is with us too and He promises that the waiting and struggling is preparing us for something more glorious.
These bodies are wasting away. Our retirement plan is wasting away. Our checking account is wasting away. But God is not. He promises to see us through and He has not broken a promise yet!
Ephesians 3:20 says that His power is at work within us and He will do abundantly more than we can ever think or imagine. If our perspective is on eternity and the glory that will soon be ours, then we will have courage and strength, knowing we are being renewed and prepared for eternal glory.
Hang in there friends! Don't lose heart! Focus on the truths of Jesus, not on the unknown. We will get through this!
